Getting to Tofino from Vancouver
Tofino is located on the West/East section of Vancouver Island. Vancouver is the largest and closet international city to Tofino and is on the mainland. You have a couple of options to get to Tofino from Vancouver.
Drive. Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay (Or Tsawwassen) to Nanaimo and drive across the island on HWY 4. It will take about 5 hours, each way. Take your time and make a few stops to stretch your legs and hug a tree. At about the half way point, visit MacMillian Provincial Park to see check out trees that are up to 800 years old.
Fly. There are two local airlines that fly from Vancouver to Tofino. KD Air or Orca Air both fly from YVR’s south terminal. The flight is approximately 1 hour. And the airport is about a 20-minute drive from the resort. These scenic flights will give you breath taking views of forests and beaches along the way.
Ferry. Approximately $75 for a car with 2 people. Pro tip: Make a reservation for $17 each way to confirm your spot. And if possible, take the first or last ferry for discounted rates.
